Ô Tours

From Emerson to Lake Winnipeg, the Red River offers natural space, historic sites and recreational activities for Manitobans and visitors. Lower Fort Garry, Twin Oaks, Kennedy House and St. Andrews Church are well known favourites. However, the Red River has many other hidden treasures waiting to be discovered.

The city of Winnipeg and the towns and villages along the Red River will benefit from the tourism and economic development initiatives of Rivers West. The conservation and sustainable development principles it is championing will further protect the historic and scenic value of the Red River Corridor.

The Honourable
Lynne Yelich,
P.C., M.P. Minister
of National Revenue
and Minister of
Western Economic Diversification

Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is proud to support Rivers West as it restores the Red River and celebrates the pivotal role this historic waterway continues to play in the history, culture and development of Manitoba.

The Province of Manitoba is pleased to support Routes on the Red , Rivers West's self-directed tours of the Red River Valley. The itineraries included in this website provide an opportunity to learn more about the fur trade of the 18 th and 19 th centuries and the people who took part in the commerce of the day. Discover the roles played by the First Nations and Metis, as well as the European immigrants who settled in the Red River valley.

Eric Robinson, Minster
Manitoba Culture, Heritage, Tourism & Sport

As Minister of Culture, Heritage, Tourism and Sport, I commend Rivers West for promoting tourism and economic development along the Red River. I encourage Manitobans and visitors alike to drive, cycle, walk or paddle this historic corridor to discover fascinating legacies that paved the way for the birth of a province.
